Gagan Thapa

Gagan Kumar Thapa (born 16 July 1976) is a prominent young leader of the Nepali Congress, serving as its General Secretary since late 2021. Raised in Kathmandu, he became active in student politics early and has represented Kathmandu-4 as Member of Parliament across multiple terms. He served as Minister of Health and Population in 2016-2017, and is known for pushing progressive reforms—especially in health, education, and governance. Thapa is widely respected for his oratory skills, appeal among youth, and emphasis on democratic norms.
