Ishwor Pokhrel

Ishwor Pokhrel (born 4 February 1954) is a veteran Nepali communist politician and longtime senior leader of the CPN (UML). Over decades in politics, he has held several high offices including Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister, and various other cabinet roles. He is known for his steady role within the UML, often acting as a stabilizer during party leadership transitions and holding interim posts such as Acting Chair. His political views include upholding internal party rules and norms (such as age/term limits) and he remains influential within UML’s decision-making circles.
